Love. The word that stands at the foundation of our relationship with people, and with Christ. There seem to be so many different ways to love in the world, yet there is one thing that always remains the same, the love of God. It’s not conditional or based on our mistakes, but instead, it’s selfless, and never-ending.
"You love me as You find me."
"As You Find Me" by Hillsong United
This is something that God has really been teaching me in the last year. Sometimes, I fall into the trap of society and I forget that I am unconditionally loved by my Father.
So often, we think that because we sinned that God just stops loving us. We think that since we let God down, He is going to leave us right where we are. Let me assure you, that is not the case at all. God does not love us based on our mistakes. He does not love someone more because “they don’t mess up as much.” No, God loves every person unconditionally. No matter how many times you sin or mess up, God still treasures you!
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16
We as humans love conditionally. That basically means, as long as people do what we want, we will deeply respect them. The moment they betray us, that love is gone. Our Father is not like that. God loves unconditionally. He understands that we are going to mess up. That’s why He sent Jesus. It does not matter what we have done, what we will do, or how we treat him, God still loves us. His love is never-ending and unfailing.
With that being said, God loves with selfless love. Selfless love is when you love others for their good and not your own.
As people, that’s not easy. It’s hard to go out and serve someone and not want to at least get a “thank you” from it. Yet, Jesus did not do this. He loved
not for the attention, but just to show the love of God. He did not want to put Himself in the spotlight, but instead, put God in the spotlight. As hard as that is to
do, we need to have a selfless love. A love that gives the glory to the Lord instead of on ourselves.
I pray this week that you realize that God loves you unconditionally! He loves you more than you could ever understand! I encourage you today to take your concerns to God. Maybe you don’t see the love of God right now in your life. Take it to God, let Him know what your feeling because I promise you He wants to know. Maybe you really want to love selflessly, but you don’t quite understand the concept, or you realize that you can’t do it alone. Either way, pray. Let God know what your thinking and ask for His strength. Prayer is powerful. God really will work in your life if you allow Him to.
See ya next time beautiful people!
